Cinco Ranch Jr. High Band is an organization dedicated to the musical and academic education of all participants. CRJH band consist of three, ability grouped, levels; Beginner band, Intermediate band, Advanced band. Full band, small group, and private instruction activities are provided to insure the success of our students. Band at CRJH helps to develop life-skills, as well as musical skills, nurtures strong bonds of friendship and provides a family-type of environment for all the students. Band also emphasizes self-discipline, promotes teamwork, and provides an enjoyable, worthwhile, and life-long hobby.

Chess Club

 

Students receive a mini-lesson on Chess twice each month on Friday. They choose a partner and use higher-level thinking strategies to accomplish “checkmate”.

A class that involves learning to read music, singing a variety of repertoire, and learning to appreciate all styles and facets of music. It is an opportunity to be a part of a team where working together and building confidence are two of our main goals.

Cinco Ranch Outdoors Club

Open to all grades. For students who love the outdoors, fishing and hunting. There are fishing tournaments and contests, discussion of outdoorsy hunting, fishing, and camping activities.

Students are provided opportunities to study, experience, and live history. Field trips and functions include re-enactments and archaeological digs, museums, and historical festivals. Junior Historians also demonstrate a responsibility to community and the past by committing to help those less fortunate in the surrounding area, and dedicating time and effort to worthwhile historical projects.

Orchestra is an ensemble made up of four different stringed instruments. Students are provided an opportunity to express themselves musically through an instrument while working with their peers.

The Academic Pentathlon is a means of fostering scholastic excellence among students who represent a wide diversity of personal and academic background and interests. The students compete as individuals and as teams in a series of five academic tests. These are Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts and Super Quiz.  The teams consist of nine students with varying GPA's.

Readers’ Circle

Readers’ circle is comprised of students that love to read and share good books.  They write critiques of CRJH library books for other students.

Robotics Club

The robotics club is a beginner club that uses computer programming along with hands-on design to create a robot that will accomplish a certain task or mission. The club is the first step in participation in the high school robotics club at CRHS.  This after-school activity allows students to develop mechanical skills along with technological and computer programming skills.
