
Morton Ranch Junior High recently held its annual pumpkin chunking contest where technology education students built 36 catapults with a ranges of up to approximately 200 feet and launched pie pumpkins in a school-wide celebration.
Approximately 175 students participated in this project, where they were able to integrate their core education into a practical application. The event was also used as a way to boost interest and enrollment in the Technology Education courses.
Houston Texans Ephraim Salaam (74) and Chester Pitts (69) pay a visit to Katy Elementary when Corbin Henrich, a 4th grade student, won the "NFL Take a Player to School" sweepstakes.
Salaam and Pitts led Corbin's class in several fitness activities and then spoke to the entire Katy Elem. student body about the importance of health and fitness, hard work, and the importance of staying in school.
Additionally, Katy Elem., received a $3,000 grant from the NFL, ESPN and JC Penney's for the purchase of physical education equipment for the school.
