The Parent and Patron Assistance Center (PPAC) is available to assist parents with needs, questions and/or concerns pertaining to their children who attend Katy ISD. The PPAC coordinator has direct access to district administrators and can address issues in a more efficient manner while allowing appropriate staff to stay focused on our academic mission.

The vast majority of issues school systems must work through occur at the campus level. Thus, most of these issues can and should be addressed at the campus level with the teacher, counselor or administrative staff. Additionally, we understand the importance of each student having the benefit of a healthy relationship between home and school as there are direct and intangible benefits when the student sees the home and school working together.

District policy and procedures require that each issue be addressed at the level closest to the matter prior to PPAC involvement. Sometimes it takes more than one attempt to resolve an issue or there may be times when the school is unable to honor a request. We appreciate parents who are able to maintain a positive relationship with the school despite previous concerns. The PPAC can assist as a neutral service to assure that student and/or parent rights are respected through the informal process.

The District has formal appeal procedures (FNG-Local)  for decisions that are counter to Board policy, state and/or federal statutes. The PPAC may then serve as a "fact finder" and bring the relevant issues to the attention of the superintendent. Depending on the issue, other administrative staff may also become involved. As a rule, neither the PPAC nor the superintendent substitutes their judgment for that of the building principal for campus level decisions within his or her authority.
