Katy ISD Teacher wins Junior Achievement Drawing, Takes Home Toyota FJ Cruiser
(July 10, 2008) – Caroline Nguyen, a kindergarten teacher at Williams Elementary received a new Toyota FJ Cruiser after winning the Junior Achievement Bowl-a-Thon drawing. The car was donated to Junior Achievement by Toby Hines, Junior Achievement board member with Gulf States Toyota.
The Bowl-a-Thon was held last November as 741 teachers, staff and friends of Katy ISD bowled for Junior Achievement. This is only one of two fundraisers held in Katy to support the Junior Achievement programs in every school in Katy ISD. The goal of the Bowl-A-Thon is for all bowlers to collect pledges for Junior Achievement. For every $100 that a bowler raises, their name goes into a drawing at the end of the Junior Achievement year for a new Toyota FJ Cruiser.
“Last year’s drawing winner was also a Katy ISD teacher,” said Bill Land, Junior Achievement Katy Project. “That alone equated to a 50 percent increase in those teachers who raised $100 or more this year.
Junior Achievement brought quality free enterprise education programs to over 33,000 students from Kindergarten to 12 grade in Katy ISD. To be a part of this great program, please contact Bill Land at 281-396-2439 or billland@katyisd.org.
