Katy ISD Supports the Community:
Rolls Back Ticket Prices At-the-Gate for Varsity Football

(October 9, 2008) – Katy ISD today announced that at-the-gate ticket prices for all remaining 2008 varsity football games will be reduced from $10 to $5 for students, and from $12 to $10 for adults. All other ticket prices, including pre-sale tickets purchased before the game, will remain the same.

The price reduction was made possible through a combination of the receipt of unexpected state funding and increased attendance revenues at junior varsity games. With the slight improvement in the district’s budget condition, Katy ISD is in a position to make these adjustments and assist families in being able to participate in a favorite community pastime.

“With the economy tightening and people dealing with the aftereffects of Hurricane Ike, we felt that reducing ticket prices at the gate was the right thing to do to,” said Rusty Dowling, Katy ISD executive director of athletics. “We understand that many families are experiencing tight budgets right now and we don’t want ticket prices to be a hindrance to them being able to enjoy a night at the game.”

Dowling explained that those looking to get the best bargain on varsity football tickets should purchase their tickets prior to the game. Pre-sale ticket prices are $4 for students and $6 for adults, and can be purchased on campus or at the Merrell Center’s southeast ticket booth on Wednesday evenings from 6 – 8 p.m.
