Katy ISD Announces New Organizational Structure
(April 21, 2009) – After months of evaluating organizational configurations that better facilitate the learning demands of students and growth of the district, Katy ISD Superintendent Alton Frailey announced today a new organizational structure designed specifically to support the district’s campuses in carrying out their mission. The new structure will go into effect May 1.
At the center of the reorganization is the formation of three Area Assistant Superintendent positions. The Area Assistant Superintendents will be responsible for the Teaching and Learning Division, currently headed by the Chief Academic Officer, by supporting instructional delivery at each campus in their assigned area. They will also support campus level administration, faculty and staff, students and parents for their area schools.
“Student learning is the fundamental purpose of why we exist and our structures and practices must communicate this as our highest commitment to our students and community,” said Frailey. “As such, the primary mission of the central office should be to deliver responsive, high quality and efficient services that focuses on the students and school as the main customer. This new organizational structure will better facilitate the instructional and administrative support for our schools as we honor our call to provide each student with high-quality, world-class learning experiences as we prepare them to create their future.”
Frailey added that the new organizational structure will not cause an increase in central office staffing due to retirements and the combining or repurposing of current positions. “This organizational restructuring will serve as the starting point for my intention of even more streamlining and focus.”
