Online Grades Now Live!

Parents in Katy ISD can now access their child’s grades online Via the Parent Information Center. Parents with children enrolled in Katy ISD should have received a letter in the mail with a PIN number and instruction on how to access the Online Grades feature. Parents who did not receive a letter should contact their child’s school.

2008-2009 Instructional Calendar Approved

The 2008-09 school year will begin on August 25 and end on June 4 in the calendar adopted by the Board of Trustees Jan. 29. Teachers will return on August 13 for six days of professional development and two workdays prior to the beginning of the school year. The first semester is scheduled to end with an early dismissal day on Dec. 19. Teachers will return for a post-holiday workday on Jan. 5, with classes resuming on Jan. 6. Summer School Dates Announced

Dates for the 2008 Summer School Session have been set:

Elementary

  • June 9 – July 2, 2008

Junior High School

  • June 11 – July 2, 2008

High School

  • 1st Semester: June 12 – June 27, 2008
  • 2nd Semester: July 1 – July 17, 2008

All classes will meet Monday through Friday. Additional information including times, locations, etc. will be posted on Katy ISD as it becomes available.


Katy ISD Art Students Take Top Honors

Katy ISD art students took home top honors at this year’s Regional Scholastic Art Contest sponsored by the Harris County Department of Education, receiving the most top individual winners out of all the participating districts. Fifteen students earned Gold Key awards, nine students placed in the Silver category for individual entries along with two students earning the Gold honor for their art portfolio as well as three students placing in the Silver category for their portfolios.


Katy ISD Student Performs with Houston Grand Opera

Laura Smolik, a junior from Taylor High School, landed a role in the upcoming production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute with the Houston Grand Opera opening Jan. 25 at the Wortham Theater Center in Houston.


Katy ISD to Host Parenting Classes throughout February

Parenting is said to be one of the most difficult jobs in the world, yet it is one of the most rewarding.  That is why the Katy ISD Professional Learning Group will host Love and Logic parenting classes every Wednesday in February at Nottingham Country Elementary from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and in the evening at Morton Ranch High School from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
