The VIPS General Board: Who Are We?

The VIPS General and Executive Boards coordinate Katy ISD's volunteer programs and serve as managers on a campus and district level.

VIPS Executive Board

VIPS Executive Board members are chosen from the VIPS General Board.  When they step into the role of executive board member, they leave their campus responsibilities behind and act not in a school capacity, but rather in a district capacity.  When choosing these board members, factors such as geographic equity, diversity of the district and history of volunteerism are considered.  These volunteers attend all General Board meetings as well as monthly Executive Board meetings.  VIPS Executive Board members may not serve more than two years in one position, and no more than a total of three years on the board.  They also offer considerable support to other Partners in Education programs as well as VIPS.

VIPS Coordinator:

  • Coordinates campus volunteer activities with the principal, staff, VIPS Campus Liaison and the PTA/PTO/PSG President.
  • Coordinates recruitment and placement of campus volunteers.
  • Provides campus training and orientation and coordinates recognition of volunteers.
  • Evaluates and monitors campus volunteer program.
  • Attends monthly VIPS General Board meetings.

PTA/PTO/PSG President:

  • Works with campus VIPS Coordinator as a liaison between parents and campus administration.
  • Manages campus parent organization, as determined by campus-specific requirements.
  • Attends monthly VIPS General Board meetings.

Campus Liaison:

  • Serves as a point of contact between campus staff and VIPS program.  This person is usually an assistant principal, but may also be another staff member appointed by the principal.
  • Assists with placement of volunteers.
  • Attends monthly VIPS General Board meetings.
