Dear Cinco Ranch Parents, I wanted to take a moment to let you know about our revised advisory period for the upcoming year. Our teachers, counselors, and administrators have been meeting and talking to figure out the best way to set aside time each week to impact our students in a positive way. We want to use this time to support all students. What we know is that each student is unique and has a variety of needs. We are looking at setting up our advisory classes based on support levels. Each student here at Cinco Ranch can benefit from some kind of support. Some will need more than others. We are restructuring our advisory based on these needs. Some of the advisories will be smaller to provide more individualized time for those students who need that level of support, while other advisories will be larger and may be used as additional time to complete assignments or to study. Class meetings/assemblies will still take place during advisory time. Also, at times we will have grade-wide or school-wide activities in which all advisories will participate. I prepared a video message to the students earlier in the week to explain the new advisory procedure. Again, our goal here is to provide all of our students with some type of support to help them be as successful as possible. Our first new advisory will take place on Tuesday, November 17th. Advisory will happen each Tuesday throughout the year. Each advisory period will last 25 minutes. Last, but not least, after collecting and tallying the students’ votes for renaming advisory, they selected PERIOD 2.5 as the new name, so from here on out, we will refer to advisory as PERIOD 2.5. I would like to personally thank our students for their patience as we look to make advisory the best it can be. James Cross, Principal CRHS SENIORS (and Parents of Seniors)!
