 What We're Learning About

Math: For the last half of the fifth six weeks, we will be learning about geometry. Students should be able to identfy and describe the attributes of both two- and three-dimensional figures. They should also be able to identify congruent figures and lines of symmetry.

Science: We will spend the second part of the 5th six weeks learning about animals and ecosystems. Students should be able to identify the basic needs of animals and how plants and animals interact with the environment. Each class will study a particular ecosystem so they can learn about the particular adaptations, plants, and animals of that ecosystem. Students will research a certain aspect of their ecosystem and will present the information to the rest of the class. Partners will research a plant or animal from their ecosystem and present what they learned to the class.

 Important Information

  • For basic information about my class, check out the Parent Orientation Brochure under the Documents section. For basic information about third grade, check out the Third Grade Handbook under the Documents section. These 2 documents will answer many of your questions.
  • Homework is written in the planner every morning. Please check the planner to see what your child needs to complete each night for homework. When you sign the planner, you acknowledge that you saw the homework and that your child has completed his or her homework.
  • Please make sure you review all papers from your child's communication folder on Wednesday nights. Sign and return the folder along with any failed assignments. Also, on Wednesday nights, please sign and return the behavior folder.

 About Mrs. Rushworth

I grew up in Katy with my parents and older sister. I went to West Memorial Elementary and Junior High and Katy High School. I attended the University of Texas (I won't hold it against you if you're an Aggie) as a biochemistry/pre-med major. I realized I love science but that I didn't want to be a doctor so I switched to education. I married my high school sweetheart who does want to be a doctor, and he attends the University of Texas Houston medical school. We have 3 dogs: CoCo, Captain, and Layla. This is my third year teaching third grade math and science, and I love it!
