Discipline Plan:
Acceptable behavior is important to a quality-learning environment and is required at Winborn Elementary. Proper discipline will be discussed with the students and expectations will be defined and taught.
Behavior Chart:
Each classroom has a behavior chart that has 5 different colors. Each student has a clothespin with his or her number written on it. Each day, students start on gray. If he/she makes a good choice, he/she has the opportunity to move up to green or blue. If he/she makes a poor choice, he/she moves down to yellow or red.
Severe Clause: If a student hurts himself or another person, or if a student damages school property, that is
an automatic referral to a principal.
**Rewards are given throughout the week such as verbal praise, notes, stickers, etc.
Homework Policy:
1. Students will have a maximum of 45 minutes of homework nightly.
2. Homework is due the day after it is assigned unless the teacher specifies otherwise.
3. If a student is ill and misses school, one additional day for every missed day is allotted for the student to complete and return the make-up work.
4. Late homework will be accepted up to 3 days after the initial due date; however, 10 points will be deducted from the grade per day that it is late.
5. The social skills card/ conduct folder will reflect late and missing homework assignments.
6. Homework will be graded by the student or the teacher and the grade will be recorded in the gradebook.
7. Homework will account for 10% of the final six weeks average.
8. The planner will come home every night. It will reflect your child’s homework assignments. Please review the planner nightly with your child.
