The ELA Benchmark Test will be administered Friday, November 6. This is the Early Dismissal Day. Students will report to a designated room at first period and will remain in that room for the remainder of the day.
Pep Rally Friday, November 6th
Pep Rally in the Competition Gym this Friday November 6th 10:55-11:30. You must be wearing a red shirt or school spirit shirt to attend. A school spirit shirt is one that represents a KHS club, sport, extracurricular activity, etc. No backpacks may be brought into the gym – please find a safe place for your backpack (locker) before coming to the gym.
No Miller Transportation on Friday
Students will remain at KHS for the Early Dismissal day on Friday, November 6th for ELA Benchmark and Senior Fitnessgram; therefore, no buses will run to/from Miller.
Seniors: Friday you will be reporting to an administrative homeroom. You will remain there the entire day. This will be an excellent time for you to catch up on any work or to study. There will also be a powerful presentation by Kelly Morrison on the TV that day for you to view. You will also be called down to do the state mandated Fitness Test. You may wish to wear comfortable clothing that is within the school dress code for this.
To find your homeroom assignment, look on the wall outside the Senior Principal’s office or on the wall at the top of the stairs by the Senior Principal’s office. If your name is not on one of the rosters, you need to report to the commons during first period to receive an assignment.
Seniors will begin nominations for class favorites staring today (Nov. 5th). Nominating will continue on Friday in the Administrative Homerooms for seniors. Polls close Friday at 11:30 a.m. Voting takes place next week. You may nominate from any KISD computer and during all lunches.

This is a THREE day retreat March 26th - 28th, 2010. If selected- you will participate in a FREE computerized business simulation and much more. HURRY! · SENIORS: if you are interested in the theatre and planning on attending Texas State University then you might want to take advantage of on-campus auditions at TSU in both musical theatre and acting. · SENIORS: if you have applied or are in the process of applying to Texas State University you have the opportunity to take a free charter bus trip to San Marcos for the November 14th Bobcat Day Open House! Seats are limited and will be given on a first come, first served basis. Seniors who have already submitted an application for admission to TSU will be given priority consideration. Your completed registration form must be returned to TSU by Friday, Nov. 6th either by mail or fax. You will be notified by email if selected!!! · Military Academy Night, Education Support Center (ESC), Tuesday, November 24th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. If your student is interested in attending a service academy, then you and your student will not want to miss this presentation. · West Memorial Jr. High PTA is in need of volunteers to help each week with concessions. They have Volleyball & Basketball at WMJH, and 7th & 8th Grade Football at KHS Tiger Stadium. Auditions for My Fair Lady will be Tuesday November 10 in the PAC from 3:30 - 5:30. There are several speaking and chorus roles left. Students need to bring a pen, a copy of their schedule and contact information, and a functioning brain. All Cast Members will attend this audition session to help those mad souls who want to join in the fun. Performing in our Katy High School Fine Arts musical takes dedication and talent, but it is mostly a lot of fun. All superstars should plan on taking advantage of this opportunity.

BASKETBALL
There has been a change of schedule for Men’s Basketball tryouts. There will be a one day tryout on Friday the 6th from 3-5. Also if you are planning to play basketball, but you will be participating in the football playoffs, please come by and inform the basketball coaches of your intentions.
The Men’s basketball is also still looking for student assistants. Letter jackets may be earned in either a one or two year plan. Students interested in filming contest, keeping a scorebook, or taking game statistics should see Coach Okruhlik immediately.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Cross Country teams competed on Friday in the District Cross Country Meet. Tyrone Walker finished 7th in the Varsity Boys division and earned the opportunity to compete this Saturday in the Regional Cross Country Meet. Tyrone, we wish you luck and we BELIEVE in you!! J
FOOTBALL
This week, the football teams will be taking on the Cinco Ranch Cougars for the District Championship at all levels.
On Thursday, the Freshmen will play at Tiger stadium. The Sophomore and JV teams will play at Cinco.
On Saturday, the Varsity Football teams will play at noon at Rhodes Stadium. Get there early to get a seat.

GOLF
The varsity boys golf team finished fourth in the Taylor High Fall Classic played at River Ridge last weekend. They were led by Trey Cassity’s school record 69. Other members contributing were John Ruth (75-78) Andrew Ball and Cody Hebert. Tim Wlodowski won the Katy 2nd team varsity and JV tournament played Monday at Weston Lakes. Tim shot a 77. Robert Corkren finished second with an 82.
SWIMMING & DIVING
The swimmers will travel to Cinco Ranch on Thursday night. The meet will start at 5:30. Good Luck Aquatigers!
VOLLEYBALL
The Lady Tigers Varsity Volleyball team won their first round, Bi-District playoff match against Memorial Tuesday night in straight sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-23). It was a very convincing win for the Tigers, and aside from advancing them deeper into this year’s playoff bracket, it forecasts many more fantastic things for the future.
In the second round, the Tigers will face Kingwood. Kingwood has defeated the Tigers once this season, so the Tigers will be looking to settle the score. The game will be at Campbell Center in Aldine at 6:30pm. Cinco Ranch plays before the Lady Tigers at 5pm. If both Katy and Cinco win, they would face each other in the next round.
