The Fall Final Exam Schedule is posted on the KHS website. Fall 2009 Semester Exam Exemption Procedures are also posted on the website. Dead days this semester are December 11 and 14.
BOOK CHECK & EXEMPTIONS
If you did not verify your book number with your teacher during the book check a few weeks ago, you will be placed on the hold list for exemptions. In order to be removed from this list, you must show your missing textbooks to Mr. Teague in the junior office or Mrs. Middleton in the senior office.
Common Dress Code Violations
Ø No clothing that depicts alcohol, drugs, tobacco, weapons, nudity, gang affiliation, death, violence, vulgar language, insults to race, religion, gender, or ethnicity.
Ø No undershirts, tank tops, see-through clothing, pajamas, blouses or clothing with spaghetti straps (we do permit the tank tops with a jacket); midriff must be covered.
Ø Dresses/skirts/shorts/skorts should be worn at the waist and not be shorter than mid-thigh. (Spandex underneath is okay as long as the outerwear is mid-thigh); no high slashed apparel.
Ø Ear piercings only – no lip, nose, eye-brow, tongue piercings, etc.
Ø No excessively oversized/baggy shirts or pants.
Ø No house shoes.
Ø No facial hair – beards, mustaches, or goatees.
Ø Hair must be a naturally occurring color.
Ø No hats, caps, sport headbands, bandanas, head covers, or scarves (unless in the interest of religious practice).
Ø Rosaries/bandanas – the display of a rosary or bandanas could be used as a sign of gang affiliation. We expect student to wear rosaries privately under their clothing and bandanas should not be displayed at all.
Everyone is expected to follow the dress code. Students who are in violation will be expected to correct it or be referred to their Principals’ office.
FROM THE COUNSELORS
· SENIORS: please be aware of college application deadlines and remember to check the Counselors section of the KHS website for complete Scholarship information.
· Military Academy Night, Education Support Center (ESC), Tuesday, November 24th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. If your student is interested in attending a service academy, then you and your student will not want to miss this presentation. Representatives from the Air Force Academy, Naval Academy and West Point will be present to offer information and answer any questions.
Anyone interested in taking Dual Credit College Algebra, needs to go by Ms. Bell’s room (A221) for details. This class will be offered 1st period in the spring and will count for 3 college hours as well as high school credit. You will have some required paperwork so you need to plan ahead. Please see Ms. Bell ASAP!
Students, remember that your My Documents folder is only for school related files. If you have personal files in your folder, delete them ASAP.
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
GSL Team 2 Members: Please check in with Mrs. Taylor, room A076, if you plan to walk at the playoff game at Tully Stadium this Saturday. Walkers WILL need to purchase their own tickets for all remaining playoff games.
All members of Best Buddies are invited to meet at the Los Cucos at Katy Mills Mall Friday(today) at 5 o’clock. Please remember to bring enough money for your food, beverage and tip.
SPORTS
BASKETBALL
This weekend the Men’s Basketball varsity team is in playing in the Magnolia Tournament.
The Lady Tiger Varsity team is playing in the Fort Bend Tournament. The JV and Freshmen Lady Tigers are playing in the Katy ISD tournament.
FOOTBALL
The Tiger Football team plays Atascocita at Tulley Stadium at 1pm on Saturday.
KHS is the home team and will sit on the West side of Tully Stadium.
1. SBISD will open the outside gates that access the parking lots at Tully at 10:30am on Saturday, November 21st.
2. SBISD will have a walkthrough gate open on Fern Drive (the street between Stratford High School and Don Coleman Coliseum) at 8:30am. Katy and Atascocita fans wishing to park at Stratford and walk over to get in line at the ticket booths before the Tully parking lot gates open will be allowed to do so.
3. SBISD will open the pass gate for the Katy and Atascocita Booster Clubs at 11:00am.
4. SBISD will open the ticket booths for the Katy vs. Atascocita game at 11:30am. Game time is 1:00pm.

SOCCER
Boy’s Soccer Tryouts are Nov.30-Dec. 2 from 3:15 – 5pm
Tryouts will be held on the KHS practice fields. Each player must have Shin Guards and Cleats.
You must have a KISD Physical on file with the Athletic Trainers.

Good luck to the Tiger swimmers on Friday, November 20th. They will be travelling to Conroe to participate in the TISCA Gulf Zone Invitational.
WRESTLING
The Katy Wrestlers opened their season with a convincing 50 – 21 victory over The Woodlands College Park.|

Also wrestling tonight in exhibition matches were Sarai Gracia and Kristi Keathley. Each won two matches by pin in the first period!
The Tigers take to the mat again on Tuesday at Cypress Woods.
