The Friends of Katy High will be selling Chick-fil-A and MidWay BBQ sandwiches on Feb. 9th for $3 each during all lunches.
Also, the Friends of Katy will have its 2nd Fun Food Friday on February 12. They will sell Donuts and Kolaches before school and candy, treats and sodas during all lunches.

· Now is the time to begin thinking about enrolling in a PreAP or AP course for next year. There are many academic and social benefits to being part of the PreAP or AP program at KHS. Enrollment is open to everyone. Ask your teacher or counselor about enrolling in one or more of these classes next year.
· 10th or 11th Grade: if you are interested in Veterinary Medicine then you might want to attend the 2010 Veterinary Enrichment Camp, presented by The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, on the Texas A & M campus this July. Seniors, it’s time for the 18th annual Public Service Recognition Week Essay Contest, put on by the City of Houston. Participants are asked to write about how they would make a difference as an employee of Houston municipal government. Put yourselves in the shoes of a public service employee and write about the importance of that position. Would you be a fireman? Policeman? Animal control officer? Disney Parks’ “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day”
Destination Imagination is proud to be part of the Disney salute to volunteerism by participating in “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day.”
Volunteers at the Gulf Coast DI Regional Tournament are eligible to receive a voucher for a one-day pass to a Disney Park to be used during 2010.
Volunteers at the Tournament include Team Managers, Appraisers, Challenge Masters, Committee Chairman and other volunteers who spend a full day working at the tournament.
To become a part of “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day,” you must register online prior to the tournament.
Follow these steps:
· Go to www.disneyparks.com
· Open “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day – Start Here”
· On the next screen, open “Give and Get in 3 Simple Steps”
· On “Search for an Activity,” type in Katy, TX as the location and select “Children and Youth” in the dropdown menu for Interest Area
· Destination Imagination will appear as an option. Choose “Show Details.”
· Register as a volunteer for Destination Imagination by inputting your contact information, and stating that you will be volunteering at the Gulf Coast Regional Tournament on February 20. Also include the capacity in which you are volunteering (Appraiser or Team Manager for example)
Your volunteer hours will be confirmed after the tournament, and you will receive information regarding your voucher for a one-day pass to a Disney Park.
CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
Mr. Katy Tiger contestants and MC’s will have a short mandatory meeting Tues. morning in B148 at 7am.
The Katy ISD POWER Advisory Board will be awarding (3) $500.00 scholarships to students at each high school this spring. Pick up your information/application in room A225, and direct your questions to Mrs. Blair. The deadline to turn in paperwork will be February 19th.

Science Olympiad team – There will be a brief mandatory meeting in Room A235 (Mrs. Modic’s room) after school on Thursday February 11. If you cannot attend you need to see Mrs. Modic during the day on Thursday.
Are you interested in Broadcasting? Would you like to be a weather person? Would you like to learn to make Sadie Commercials? Be a part of KTTV and the video yearbook staff. The class counts as a Technology credit. Applications are online here or pick one up from B133 and the Freshmen Counselor’s Office. Completed applications are due back February 19th.
Join the Visual Arts Department on Thursday February 25 for a dinner of soup and bread served in a handmade ceramic bowl and help the KCM Food Pantry.
Tickets are $10 and may be purchased from any of the art teachers in C105, C107 and C110, as well as the night of the dinner.
See you there between 5 -7 pm!
All proceeds will be donated to the KCM Food Pantry to help alleviate hunger in the Katy area.

BASEBALL – Team Website
Tonight the baseball teams are scrimmaging Langham Creek and Travis high school. The Varsity is playing here at Tiger Field, the JV is playing at Fort Bend Travis, and the Sophomore team is playing at Langham Creek. The scrimmages are scheduled to start at 4pm.

The Lady Tigers play their final home game Tuesday against the Taylor Mustangs. Games will start at 4, 5:30 and 7pm.
On Friday the Men’s Basketball team overpowered Seven Lakes 64-48 to take the first place spot in the district race. The Tigers were lead early by strong inside play from Caleb Gary who started with the Tigers first 10 points and ended with a game high 22. Ransom Okpala ended the night with 16 points after hitting a buzzer beater at the end of both the second and third quarters. Tanner Elenburg also ended the night with 16 points after hitting two clutch three pointers down the stretch and going perfect from the free throw line. Defensively Ivory Gill and A.J. Pitzer lead the charge with 4 steals each as the Tigers pulled away. Unselfish team play lead to the victory for the Tigers. The Tigers must win on Tuesday against Katy Taylor to stay in first place.

Congratulations to the girl’s varsity soccer team on their 4-0 win over Morton Ranch on Friday. Goal Scorers in the game were Maddie Mckay with 2 goals and one assist, Kayla Walker and Carly Rheman each scored one goal, and Alex Childs was credited with 2 assists. The girls play Seven Lakes on Tuesday at 7:30 at Seven Lakes.
In Boys soccer, Adrian Mendoza scored the game winning goal with minutes to play to complete a 3 goal rally against the visiting Morton Ranch Mavericks. Down 2-0, minutes before half, Jose Ruiz dribbled 3 Morton Ranch defenders and found the back of the net to make it 2-1. Roberto Montelongo scored his 2nd goal of the year minutes after half time to even up the score. Adrian Mendoza's chip over the keeper from 15 yards out sent the crowd and sidelines into a frenzy, and the Tigers rejected Morton Ranch's last ditch effort to tie the game.

The AquaTigers are sending 7 individuals and all six relay teams to the UIL Regional Meet at the University of Houston on Feb 12th & 13th.

On Friday Feb 5th the Mixed doubles team of Erin Schwartz and Sachin Khosla won the “A” division of the Pasadena ISD tournament winning 6-4,7-5 in the Final over a very strong Friendswood team. They won 4 matches for the day to earn their championship trophies. Great job.
On Tuesday, the JV tennis team is playing in the Katy ISD tournament. On the Feb 12th, the Varsity is playing at Fort Bend Clements.
