WITHDRAWAL PROCEDURES
Moving?
If you know that your student will not be returning to Katy Jr High next year due to a move this summer, please stop by the Registrar’s office and fill out a leaver document for us to have on record for next school year. This will help us in getting paperwork to your new school in a timely manner.
When withdrawing a student from school, it is best to give the Registrar 24 hours notice. The withdrawal form needs to be signed by a parent/guardian and then by all teachers, as well as, other individuals in the school. It is best if the student can carry this form with him/her during their last day on our campus so that each teacher can fill in current withdrawal grades. All text books and library books must be turned in or paid for before withdrawal papers will be given to a student. If a book is paid for and shows up at a later time, a refund will be made to the parent/guardian at the last known address. If you have any questions regarding withdrawal procedures, please contact Mrs. Aiken in the Counselor’s office at 281-237-6800.
Have You Moved Recently?
If you have changed addresses since last school year, please send a new proof of residence to the Connie Aiken, Registrar. We cannot update our system without this proof of residence.
A proof of residence should be one of the following documents:
1. Current Utility Bill (Gas, Water, Electricity) with correct name & address
2. Approved Mortgage Loan Letter or Apartment/Home Lease Agreement
Safety Net
Katy ISD has implemented a plan called Safety Net.
What is the Katy ISD Safety Net?
This plan is a proactive response to prevent student action related to school violence, suicide, gang involvement, and drug or alcohol use. Safety Net gives students an opportunity to anonymously report a possible concern or ‘tip’—about either himself or herself, or another student. Students may submit reports in two ways—in writing at the campus level or by calling the Crimestoppers’ Hotline at 713-222-TIPS or www.crime-stoppers.org to make an anonymous report.
How do students make an anonymous tip?
Students fill out a written form and turn it in to a teacher, counselor or administrator. Also, there are drop boxes located throughout the building. These forms are readily available in all classrooms and in central locations such as the library, counselors’ or principals’ offices. Students may leave the filled out form on a teacher’s desk or place it in a drop box on the campus.
Will parents be able to turn in anonymous tips?
Yes, Safety Net forms will be included in campus newsletters, providing an opportunity for parents and community members to submit concerns or tips.
What happens when a tip is turned in?
All reports are taken seriously and are thoroughly checked out by a campus administrator or counselor. Parents will be notified when their student is identified as needing assistance or is the subject of an anonymous concern. Appropriate action by campus administrators will be taken with consideration to the situation and the age/maturity of the student. Disciplinary infractions will be handled in accordance with the Katy ISD Discipline Management Code.
