Welcome to the Award Winning History Club's very first entry. For starters let's get down with the "History" of History Club.
During the '05 -'06 year History Club began with 6 students. Gordon Wilkins was the founding charter President, and with his leadership along with Mrs. Rosas they raised $160 during Pennies for Pearl Act. That year they won the Outstanding First Year Charter Award from the Junior Historians of Texas.
Last Year History Club began with a shaky start. With only 5 members we grew to an outstanding 32 members at the end of the year. We did a number of community services, such as decorating the halls for Freedom Week and Cleaing Graveyards. During the second semester we implimented the first Annual Video Game Tournament which raised over $1200 for the Battle Ship Texas. Battle Ship Texas was very appreciative for the whole thing and wanted to show their generosity by offering us to go on a field trip to see the Battleship. Of course we had to accept. It was pretty cool, they showed us things they normally do not show other tourists. That year we won the Second Runner Up Honor Trophy (Basically 3rd place in Texas).
This year we started off with a booming amount of 42 members. We are one the fastest growing Clubs in Mayde Creek and we are the Third Best History Club in the wonderful state of Texas. We have several activities planned for this year, such as Freedom Week, Grave Yard Cleanup, Renaissance Festival and of course our Second Annual Video Game Tournament.
