Audio/Video Production-Audio Engineering (2 credits): Designed to provide job specific training for entry-level employment as an assistant engineer in the radio, television, film and studio recording industries, as well as live sound reinforcement. Students receive instruction in music production, MIDI applications, live sound theory, and recording studio techniques using industry standard computer software.
Advanced Audio/Video Productin-Media Tech I (2 credits): This foundational first year course is designed to provide job specific training for entry-level employment in movie, video and television production careers. Students receive introductory level instruction in the operation of different types of cameras, audio techniques, digital editing and film production using Apple’s Final Cut Pro 6 editing software utilizing the Apple Pro Training Series book, creation of media graphics for film and video, lighting, script writing, direction, production, special effects, signal control and monitoring equipment, set design, safety and career opportunities from the Apple. There is an optional testing fee of up to $175 if the student chooses to take Apple’s Final Cut Pro End User Certification Exam Level 1 at the end of the year. By taking and passing the Apple Certified exam, the student is given Apple Certified Pro status, which allows them to distinguish themselves to colleagues, employers, and prospective clients as skilled users of the Final Cut Pro software application. This certification gives individuals a competitive edge in today’s ever-changing job market. There is a course fee of $50.00 for student supplies.
Practicum in Audio/Video Production-Media Tech II (2 credits): This second year course is designed to provide job specific training for entry-level employment in movie, video, and television production careers. Students receive advanced instruction in the operation of different types of cameras, mastery of audio techniques, electronic editing, creation of media graphics, lighting, script writing, direction, production, special effects, signal control and monitoring equipment, set design, safety and career opportunities. There is a course fee of $50.00 for student supplies.
