Ready, Set, Teach (2 credits): provides senior level students the opportunity to explore the exciting career of teaching through classroom instruction and application of skills in a school setting. Students will observe and experience various aspects of teaching as they rotate through different local Katy ISD schools and facilities. This field based internship provides students hands-on learning experience in child development and principles of effective teaching practices. Course content includes leadership concepts and skills; employability skills; information on careers in education; and child growth and development related to children Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. Classroom management skills, teaching methods and skills, special needs children, and learning activities for children are studied. There is a course fee of $30 for student uniform. |
