Opportunities for students to receive certifications through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification (two years of work experience are required for post high school graduates, however one year is waived for students completing the two year MCTC high school program.)

Collision & Refinishing Technology (2 credits): The Automotive Collision and Refinishing Technology I course consists of training in Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair (Body Components) and introductions to Painting and Refinishing. This course is a classroom/laboratory instructional sequence designed to provide job specific training for entry-level employment in the automotive field of auto body repair. Instruction emphasizes training in frame and body repair, and metal, fiberglass, and synthetic materials repair, plus environmental issues, safety, and career opportunities.

Advanced Collision & Refinishing Technology (2 credits): A course designed to provide job specific training for entry-level employment in the automotive field of auto body repair and refinishing. Instruction emphasizes training in preparation and application of primers and paints, metal inert gas (MIG), welding, and environmental issues, safety, and career opportunities. During the second semester, additional training in damage estimation will be provided. This training will enable students to enter the automobile damage estimating career field.

The Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) is an international, not-for-profit, research and development organization dedicated to training the collision industry.  Students learn the latest methods of efficient, high-quality repair through the I-CAR technical educational programs related to collision repair. Automotive Technology (2 credits): A course consisting of training in the areas of Electrical and Electronics Systems and Automotive Steering and Suspension Systems. The Automotive Electrical and Electronic Systems training is the foundational training on which the other areas of the Automotive Technician program are built. Students will receive training in the proper use of various tools, equipment, and information systems currently used in the automotive repair industry. Training is achieved through both classroom and laboratory experiences utilizing various instructional techniques, guided practice, and independent work on “training” vehicles as well as customer vehicles. This program has been evaluated by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

Advanced Automotive Technology (2 credits): This course prepares students for entry level positions in automotive dealerships, independent repair facilities, and other automotive repair related positions by providing training necessary for automotive technicians to be successful. This training is provided through classroom and laboratory experience utilizing various instructional techniques, guided practice, and independent work on “training” vehicles as well as customer vehicles. Students will be trained in the use of various tools, testing equipment, shop equipment, and printed or electronic resources currently being used in the automotive repair industry. Coursework includes Automotive Engine Performance Systems and Automotive Brake Systems training. All curriculum and training proce­dures meet current industry and NATEF standards.
This is an advanced technical credit course.
