About Memorial Parkway Junior High

Memorial Parkway Jr. High focuses on student learning by engaging students in meaningful study and using a variety of techniques that recognize the many ways in which students learn. MPJH offers a challenging curriculum that surpasses traditional textbook learning.  Students with special needs are served by direct enrichment programs, tutorials, a community mentoring program and an adaptive behavior classroom that assists students with conflict resolution and anger management. Students who need greater academic challenges have access to pre-advanced placement courses, gifted and talented enrichment classes and individualized programs.  Seventh and eighth graders can choose from a full array of electives including fine arts, foreign language, technology, athletics and others.

Counselors advance with a class through the grade levels, providing a high level of continuity for students and their parents.  The counseling staff sponsors parent meetings on topics of interest suggested by parents, in addition to orientations for sixth grade and career planning and course selection for eighth grade.

Strong extracurricular activities, academics, athletics, fine arts and intramural sports provide social interaction and growth. Student organizations like Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, Pep Squad and Academic Pentathlon give students a variety of opportunities to participate in school activities.

An active PTA supports Memorial Parkway Jr. High in many ways: providing a strong volunteer base; staffing the school’s greeter desk; and sponsoring the PTA Reflections program, field trips, translators for non-English speaking students, cultural programs, an environmental poster contest, an eighth grade party, and displays for special observances.
