Dual Credit
Dual Credit information sessions are on-going with the most important session for parents and students occurring on Thursday, May 15th, at Taylor High School at 6:30 P.M. in the commons. A scholarship for 1 course will be drawn for a student attending the meeting. The meeting is mandatory for students already signed up for dual credit junior and senior classes and is highly recommended for those with an interest in getting signed up. Pink and yellow packets are an essential part of the enrollment process in dual credit and have been handed out to most students. Juniors should be turning in their yellow slips to the counselors’ office immediately, and sophomores should be turning in pink slips immediately.
High School Summer School 2008
High School Summer School Early Registration is March 31 through May 23. Summer School will be held at CInco Ranch High School. The dates are:
1st Semester: June 12-June 27
2nd Semester: July 1-July 17
Original credit courses are $200 per semester and retake courses are $180 per semester.

Announcing Two Important Date Changes For students applying for admissions Fall 2009 – New Freshman Admissions Deadline is January 15, 2009 and NEW Scholarship Deadline is December 1, 2008.
MDA Summer Camp: The MDA Summer Camp will be held June 8 -14, 2008 in Burton, Texas at the Camp for All facility. If you are 16 years or older and have a willingness and commitment, please volunteer to be a camp counselor for one week for a child between the ages of 6 – 21 with a neuromuscular disease. This camp will give the children a chance to feel what it is like to be a real child, disability free, through great activities tailored to their needs. The Houston Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (H-LSAMP) – University of Houston is designed to increase the number of underrepresented students who graduate with bachelor degrees in the science, mathematics, engineering, or technology fields from one of six area universities. These six universities are: UH, UH – Downtown, UH – Victoria, Texas Southern University, Texas State University – San Marcos, and Rice University. Students may enroll in either the San Jacinto College District or the Houston Community College System for their first two years, and then transfer to one of the participating universities to earn a baccalaureate degree. As an H-LSAMP scholar, be among a group of students recognized for excellence in academic coursework and for ambition to pursue either graduate study or a challenging career. You will receive a stipend that is renewable each semester (amount determined during selection process). You will be required to make a service commitment to the organization to ensure its growth and success. Summer Camp at UT - Cockrell School of Engineering
MITE: Introduction to Engineering June 8 – 13, 2008 or June 15 – 20-2008
Offered by The Equal Opportunity in Engineering Program, along with student members of the National Society of Black Engineers and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. MITE is a free, five day residential program that presents current high school sophomores and juniors with the opportunity to discover engineering through hands-on activities and interaction with engineering students, faculty, staff and alumni. All students may apply; outstanding African-American, Hispanic, and Native American students and those who have overcome any social or economic hardship are strongly encouraged to apply. CEO (Consider Every Option) June 17 – 20, 2008
CEO is a hands-on day camp that exposes high school girls to the exciting field of engineering. Students may choose to attend one or more of the four topic-focused days: 1) Body, Mind & Medicine; 2) Accessories, Games & Music; 3) Energy, Earth & Beyond; 4) Communities, Environment & Security. Each day, participants will have the opportunity to meet engineers and current students, learn through hands-on experiences, discover what it means to be an engineer within various engineering fields, and explore ways to benefit society and impact the world through engineering.
