Katy ISD Provides Screenings to Identify Disabilities
(Aug. 7, 2013) – The Katy ISD Special Education Department provides screenings for students with suspected disabilities in an effort to identify every student with a disability who lives within the District’s boundaries.
Students with all categories of disabilities between the ages of three and 21 can be provided with services to ensure their successful participation in school. These services may be provided through Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act or through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act. Special Education services are also available to children who are visually and/or auditory impaired starting at birth.
Anyone aware of a child who may be challenged with a disability is invited and encouraged to contact the Katy ISD Special Education office at (281) 396-2625. The special education office will coordinate efforts to evaluate the student and, if eligible, ensure the student is provided with support and services needed to benefit from instruction.
