About Kilpatrick Elementary

Kilpatrick Elementary's namesake, Odessa Kilpatrick Punchard, was a dedicated teacher, principal and civic worker who gave 42 years of service to Katy ISD and the Katy community. As the district's first African-American principal, she devoted her entire career to seeing that all children received the education they deserved.

Like the Australian outback, Kilpatrick Elementary is a special and unique place -- the "Wonder from Down Under." Its warm, welcoming atmosphere creates an environment where students and visitors alike feel at home. From the moment you step into the building you are sure to be greeted with cheerful smiles and a hearty "G'day mate" from one of its students.

For students at Kilpatrick, every day is a learning adventure guided by some of the most talented teachers in all of Katy ISD. When choosing our staff, we select individuals with the right attitudes - those who don't accept the status quo. The teachers at Kilpatrick not only make learning upbeat and fun for students, but also make each and every student feel valued and encourage them to go beyond what is expected and challenge the norm.

Special Activities to enrich the lives of all student that happen in the Kilpatrick Outback include: Two By Two Reading for Kindergarten, Reading Restaurant for first grade, Coffeehouse Poetry Night for second grade, Pioneer Day for third grade, an Exchange City trip for fifth grade, and a school-wide Australia Day to spotlight all aspects of this fascinating continent for all Kilpatrick students.

Kilpatrick students benefit from a variety of special programs, including Eureka! Science for grades K-5, the S.E.E.K. aerospace program for fifth graders, Fishing Club for fourth graders, Accelerated Reader, Outbacker of the Month, “Sizzling Sight Words” for kindergarten and first graders, and Destination Imagination for all grades respectively.  Kilpatrick is also home to a pre-school program for children with disabilities. Supporting Kilpatrick are numerous volunteers, from PTA members who give their time to raise funds for school projects, to business partners who offer their talent and resources to help students be their best. Our Kilpatrick PTA has won many awards including 100% PTA Membership, Largest Percentage PTA Membership Increase (107% increase), and a Regional PTA Award for Safety.
