About WoodCreek Elementary

WoodCreek Elementary opened in August, 2007. The students adopted a forest theme and voted to make the school’s mascot a Ranger with forest green and gold as our colors. This outdoor theme is fitting for a school situated in the new community of WoodCreek Reserve. The focus on the forest, wood-dwelling animals and all kinds of outdoor activities is a common thread binding the communities that feed into WoodCreek Elementary.

Parents, smiling faces and supportive attitudes are commonplace as we have been successful in building a true family at WoodCreek. Partnerships are invaluable to our success and continue to develop.  Because of the generous support of the WoodCreek PTA, the school has purchased a myriad of teaching materials that greatly support our students’ learning. The PTA has also sponsored multiple opportunities for the teaching staff to attend professional development workshops all over Texas.

Our building, which sits on more than 13 acres, has 60 classrooms, a distance learning center, TV studio, two large music rooms, two art rooms, a resource room, two 26-station computer labs, a science lab and a literacy library. A technology center in every classroom includes three computers, two-way video transmission and a flat-screen LCD television. The school also has two 14-unit mobile laptop computer labs that can be used in any classroom.

The WoodCreek family has joined hands to create our own path through charted and uncharted territory. Students stay actively involved as they leave their own footprints on many featured programs. The PTA and school work hand-in-hand to offer challenging activities such as the Ranger Science program, Reflections, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Exhibit, Junior Achievement, Destination Imagination, a 5th grade aerospace after-school class, choir, student council and safety patrol just to name a few.

In order to commemorate our first year, our school family created the Legacy Wall in which we had enormous participation.  Students designed artwork that demonstrated our first year theme “WoodCreek…A New Path to Success” which were placed on tiles.  We had so much participation that the final wall is over 30 feet long and 8 feet high!  Our theme for the 2009-2010 school year is “"On Fire for Learning."
