GT ScreeningUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).

Secondary Students Not Currently Identified for the GT Program:

The window for parent referral of students for Gifted/Talented screening will open November 30, 2009Parent Checklists are available in the counselors’ office or can be downloaded from the Katy ISD website. Parent Checklists must be returned to the campus counseling office no later than January 15, 2010. Screening will take place during the spring semester for GT service to begin the following school year.

At the secondary level, students are screened based upon specific subject matter aptitude in one or more content areas. In the screening phase of the identification process, multiple quantitative measures (standardized test scores) and qualitative measures (data gathered from parents and teachers) are examined. Students who meet district criteria for GT placement are eligible to participate in the subject area for which they qualify for the GT program. Screening is available for GT service in the areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies.

Questions regarding GT screening should be directed to Donna McCarthy at donnamccarthy@katyisd.org the campus GT Facilitator.

Secondary Students Currently Identified for the GT Program:

Parents of students who are in the secondary GT program may wish to refer their children for screening in additional GT courses. If you would like to request additional GT screening for your child,  pick up the “Request for Additional Screening” form in the counselors’ office beginning November 30. Requests for additional screening must be turned in to the counselors’ office no later than January 15, 2010  in order to be considered for additional GT classes next year.
