All Region Audition Results! 10/17/09
Congratulations to Nicole Cruse, Emily Cruser, Elissa Friede, and Sammi Stayton who made the 2009 All Region Choir! These young ladies placed very high in the rooms they auditioned in. I would also like to congratulate Destiny Gamble, Maria Cruz, and Sarah Medellin, for their hard work and preparation for this contest. Everyone of these girls placed with excellent scores and were EXTREMELY close to being in the All Region Choir. The competition for this choir is ridiculously stiff, and this shows just how well every single one of our students was well prepared for this contest. Mr. Capshaw could not be any prouder of all of you!
KATY ISD FINE ARTS MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Katy Independent School District Fine Arts Department is to prepare students to be successful in a diverse and ever-changing society through experiences in the fine arts, by designing and supporting the delivery of an aligned, articulated, assessed and progressive performance-based curriculum that encourages all students to reack their academic, creative, and expressive potential by fostering a life-long involvement in the arts.
WMJH Choir Objective
The goal of the West Memorial Junior High Choir program is to enable each student to grow not only as an idividual, but interdependently with a group of their peers. Students will have the oportunity to participate in a variety of activities designed to build character, self esteem, and utilize higher level thinking skills. In the classroom they will reinforce basic academic skills used in language arts, history, math, and science as it pertains to the variety of music they study. Students will learn rehearsal techniques that will be applied to musical performances as well as the basic skills of reading and writing music. Choir will be used as a positive learning environment to promote the student academically as well as socially.
