Let’s face it: Katy, Texas is a busy place. There’s a lot of taking kids to soccer, picking kids up from softball, taking kids to swimming, picking kids up from scouts. So if you’re one of those busy Katy parents who asks, “When do I have time to volunteer - I’m too busy being a parent,” please consider this. Volunteering at your children’s school may be one of the most important, life-altering things you can ever do for them. Why? Because it sends the very clear message that you’re devoting your most precious commodity — yourself — to something that’s important to you — their education. It’s an obvious display of support for them, their teachers and the other children that attend school with them. Simply put, volunteering is a way to contribute to the greater good of this busy place we call home.

Veamos la realidad: Katy, Texas es un lugar activo. Hay que llevar a los niños al fútbol, recogerlos del softbol, llevarlos a natación, recogerlos de los scout. Si eres uno de los padres activos de Katy que pregunta, -¿Cuándo tengo tiempo para ser voluntario? Estoy demasiado ocupado siendo padre– considera esto. Ser voluntario en la escuela de tu hijo puede ser una de las cosas más importantes que afecte su vida positivamente. ¿Por qué? Porque envía el mensaje claro que estás dedicando tu utilidad más valiosa—tú mismo– a algo que es importante para ti—la educación de tus hijos. Es una muestra obvia de tu apoyo a ellos, a sus maestros y a los demás niños que asisten a la escuela con ellos. Dicho sencillamente, ser voluntario es tu forma de contribuir al bien general de este lugar activo que llamamos hogar.

You’re the only person on earth who can use your ability. And of greater importance, no one can influence your children the way you can. By volunteering at their school, you’re telling them “what you do all day matters to me and I want to be a part of it.”

Tú eres la única persona en el mundo que puede utilizar tu habilidad. Y más importante, nadie puede influenciar a tus hijos de la misma forma que tú. Siendo voluntario en su escuela, les estás diciendo - lo que haces todo el día es importante para mí y quiero ser parte de ello.-

We’re talking about those teachers. The ones who love and nurture your children. Whether it be for one hour a year or one hour a day, the staff at your child’s school needs your helping hands, smiling face and giving heart to lighten their load and give them a few more minutes in the classroom. After all, everyone needs some help from time to time — what better place to offer yours than a Katy ISD school?

Estamos hablando de los maestros. Los que quieren y educan a tus hijos. Ya sea por una hora al año o una hora al día, el personal de la escuela de tu hijo necesita la ayuda de tus manos, tu cara sonriente y tu corazón generoso para aligerar su carga y darles unos cuantos minutos más en el salón de clases. Después de todo, todos necesitamos ayuda de vez en cuando—¿qué mejor lugar para ofrecer tu ayuda que en una escuela de Katy ISD?

Can you guess the number one reason why people don’t volunteer? It’s because no one asked them. So please know that as of this very moment you are officially, politely and most sincerely asked! You, your gifts and talents, are needed and wanted by your school’s staff and students. We embrace the diversity of our community and the experiences you and you alone can share with children. Lots of time or a little time — whether off campus or on - Moms and Dads - it’s all valued and important. So complete a VIPS Registration Form at your school, submit it to your VIPS Coordinator and get ready for some fun!

¿Sabes la razón principal por la cual la gente no se ofrece de voluntario? Porque nadie se lo ha pedido. A partir de este momento te avisamos que oficialmente, cortésmente y sinceramente ¡te estamos pidiendo que seas voluntario! El personal y los estudiantes de tu escuela te necesitan y te quieren a ti y tus dones y habilidades. Recibimos con gusto la diversidad de nuestra comunidad y las experiencias que tú y sólo tú puedes compartir con los niños. Mucho tiempo o poco tiempo—ya sea en la escuela o en tu casa—Mamás y Papás—todo vale y todo es importante. Llena una Forma de Registración VIPS en tu escuela, entrégala a tu Coordinador VIP y ¡prepara para divertirte.

Whintley Phipps, Founder of the Dream Academy, said, “We may have all come over on different boats, but we’re all in the same boat now.” So hop aboard the VIPS boat. It may be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do for your child ~ and for yourself.
